Fair-Haired Baby Boy

The little fair-haired baby boy
Pits and patters and
Crawls along the floor.

He wears a blue blanket sleeper
With Winnie-The-Pooh
On the breast.

He bops along the kitchen floor
Excited to see where he goes
And what he’ll do
When he gets there.

Look at his sweet, merry face.
How the delight registers in
His rosy-red cheeks.

His smile and delight
Open his mouth
And my heart
And brings tears to my eyes.

His hair
Is blond
And fair.

His hazel eyes
Could light
Every lamp and soul
In every city.

He reminds me
Of me
When I was
That age.

Maybe he is me.
